The Visitor Services Assistant is responsible for creating an environment that increases the quality of the experience for visitors to the KU Natural History Museum. They are required to greet visitors, answer questions regarding the museum and surrounding areas, and assist visitors with any special needs they may have related to their visit. Visitor Services staff members are responsible for opening and closing the museum; restocking the museum gift shop and processing retail sales; tracking attendance and contributions; processing museum memberships; communicating and assisting with the museum's Public Education department; and completing miscellaneous museum projects.
